About Company Ratios

Company ratios can be found in several of the libary's business databases.  Identified below are the top databases for locating company business ratios. 

Mergent Online Reports for Comparing Multiple Companies

Mergent Online allows users to build a customized data report to compare the same company ratios listed above between two or more companies: 

Example: I want to compare ratios for two companies in the same industry: Tesla Motors and General Motors and Ford.

  • Type tesla motors into the search box and click search
  • Click + to Company Analysis List at the top of the screen
  • Search for Ford
  • Click + to Company Analysis at the top of the screen
  • Go to "My Mergent Tools" on the right hand side and select Company Analysis List
  • Click the link for Company Comparison Report
  • Select your companies by clicking >>
  • Click the plus signs + for Financials
  • Click the types of ratios (and/or financials) that you need
  • Click > to add the ratios (and/or financials)
  • Click the box for Include Average
  • Select the years you want
  • Use the pull-down menu to select Microsoft Excel format
  • Click Create Report

Mergent Online provides current and historical ratios for an individual company and these include: 

Profitability Ratios 
ROA, ROE, ROI, EBITDA, Calculated Tax Rate, Revenue per Employee
Liquidity Ratios 
Quick Ratio, Current Ratio, Net Current Assets

Cash Flow per Share, Book Value per Share 

Example: I need some of the above listed company ratios for Amgen.

  • Type in either Amgen or the ticker symbol (amgn) into the box
  • Select Amgen
  • Click Company Financials
  • Click the link for Ratios

S&P Company Ratio Reports

Example: I need a ratio report for Cisco.

  • Type Cisco into the search box at the top of the screen
  • On the left-hand side of the screen, go to the heading for Financials/Valuation and click the link for Ratios

Ratio Reports contain the following current and historical company ratios:
