Statista has a little bit of everything, including information on lots of companies. It will be hit or miss in terms of coverage, as Statista is not designed to be a company information database, but it is worth checking out in case you hit the jackpot. Statista often includes reports and statistics on large companies such as Nike, Target, and John Deere.
An online directory of 24 million+ businesses in the United States and Canada. Users can search by company name, ticker symbol, executive name, geographic location, sales range, type of business and number of employees.
Search Tip: After launching ReferenceUSA, click on the link for "US Businesses" and then the tab for "Advanced Search". Please remember that brand names and company names are not always the same.
Mergent is useful for locating companies in specific industries (by SIC or NAIC codes) and regions. The Company Analysis List feature enables users to generate a list of companies and obtain a peer average. Please be aware that Mergent only contains public companies. On the resulting Company Snapshot page, find Peer Comparisons in the left sidebar menu

SEC filings (real-time and archived to 1993) are included for the 10,000+ NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ exchange companies. Financials for 15 years are "as reported" and can be downloaded to spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel. Select private company reports are available.
