A collection of policies, procedures and general information for Payson Library's Circulation Department.

How to work some of the Tech.

If students have an HDMI port on their computers (pic 1 below), they connect their computers via an HDMI cord to the table to display on the creen. They send their computer screen to the table screen with the puck attached to the HDMI cable (see other attached pictures). Allen and I are in the process of ordering adapters for students who don't have HDMI ports. Please follow up with me one-on-one if you have any questions. Paul (x6232).

DVD MACHINE CLEANING: Basic Operation

The VMI 3500a is the Library's DVD/CD cleaner.  You should have read this machine manual in full.  This site serves as an introduction and a refresher to DVD cleaning procedures.  Below is an image detailing the different component of the machine.  Click the image for a larger view.

Maching Parts

To familiarize yourself with the machine and the cleaning process please view the following introductory video.

Basic Cleaning

Below is video about the cleaning process and its steps outlined.

1. Once the VMI 3500 Buffing UnitTM has been turned on, press the “Open” button located at the top right hand side of the front panel.

2. Place the DVD/CD onto the platter, with LABEL SIDE OF DISC FACING DOWN.

3. Take the AC LiquidTM bottle with sponge applicator head, and place one dab North, South, East, and West - totaling 4 dabs and spread around. Be careful not to allow solution on clear area of disc or center area of loading tray. (IMPORTANT: Failure to use AC LiquidTM will cause the machine to operate erratically)

4. Close the tray door by firmly pushing in until locked.

5. Once you have chosen a regular or deep buff cycle then press the “Start” button on the front panel of the Buffing Unit. The blue LED will light up and the buffing process will begin it’s cycle. When the cycle has finished the tray door will open automatically.

6. When removing your repaired disc from the unit, make sure to handle by the edges of the disc so as not to get fingerprints or dirt on it.

Machine Maintenance

The VMI 3500 will indicate when it is time to run a cleaning cycle for the buffing wheels. After 15 cycles the USE CLEANER DISC lights will flash indicating that after the next cycle the cleaner disc should be used. After the 16th cycle, the USE CLEANER DISC lights will flash, and the unit will sound a tone, indicating that a cleaning cycle should be run. The unit will continue to tone until a cleaning cycle has been run.

Below is a video on how to use the Cleaner Disc.

WorkMate Operation

The WorkMate pre-sander is to be used on discs that are visible scratched.  By this point, you should have read the machine manual in full.  Below is a short video on the basic operation of the unit.  Please note that our unit differs in appearance, but remains the same in basic operation.

Remember that for this machine you must use the Cleaner Disc after every usage.

DVD CLEANER needs to be cleaned now and then:

The DVD cleaner will beep loudly and repeatedly when it needs to be clean.  Use the metal disc after cleaning (It usually needs a cleaning after 20 DVDs.) The metal disc needs to be cleaned off after it is used.

We do not have a Fax Machine. Currently, we recommend that students use One Stop for scholarly (not personal) fax services 8am to 5pm.

If we wanted to supplement that, we could suggest they Google “email to fax”.
