Example #1: I need a company profile for Alphabet that includes a SWOT analysis

• Type alphabet into the first box
• Type company profile into the second box
• Select the report "MarketLine Company Profile: Alphabet Inc"

Example #2: I need articles about consumers’ perceptions of Zara.

• Type zara the first box
• Type consumers or customers into the second box
• Click Search

Example #3: I want articles on Nike's strategies.

• Type nike into the first box
• Type strateg* into the second box (the asterisk gives variations such as strategic, strategies, strategy, etc.)
• Click Search

Example: I need articles on the organizational behavior of Alphabet.

• Type alphabet inc into the first box
• Type organizational or culture or employees or personnel management into the second box
• Click Publication Date on the left-hand side to limit your results to newer articles (e.g. 2020-2024)

Example: I need articles about litigation and lawsuits at Alphabet.

• Type Alphabet inc into the first box
• Type antitrust or litigation or lawsuits or regulation into the second box

Example: I want articles about layoffs at Alphabet,

• Type Alphabet Inc into the first box
• Type layoffs into the second box and click search

• Type Alphabet Inc into the first box
• Type management or leadership into the second box and change the field to SU Subject
• Click Search

Example: I need information on Nike's sales for specific geographic regions.

• Type nike and select Nike inc
• Click the tab for Business Segments

Example: I need income statement, balance sheet and cash flow data for Nike

• Type nike and select Nike inc
• Click Company Financials
• Use the pull-down menu to select the type of financial data (Balance Sheet, Income Statement or Cash Flow)
• Click Refresh

Example: I need 10-K and 10-Q reports for Nike.

• Click the link at the top of the screen for "Government Filings"
• Type Nike into the Company Name box
• Click the circle for "Last 12 months"
• Select 10K & 10Q with the pull-down menu for Filing Type
• Click Search
• The 10-Q reports will have the most updated information on the impact of Covid on companies

Example: I want a breakdown of Inditex's (parent company of Zara) by business segment and region.

• Type inditex (the parent company of Zara) into the box
• Click the link for "Business Segments"
• Change "As reported currency" to US Dollar
• Click Refresh

Example: I need income statement, balance sheet and cash flow data for Zara.

• Type in inditex (the parent company of Zara) into the box
• Select Industria De Diseno Textil (Inditex) SA
• Click Company Financials
• Use the pull-down menu to select the type of financial data (Balance Sheet, Income Statement or Cash Flow)
• Use the pull-down menu to convert Euros to US Dollars
• Click Refresh
• Select the Years you need with the pull-down menu
• Click Refresh

Example: I need the most recent annual report for Inditex.

• Type in inditex (the parent company of Zara) into the box
• Select Industria De Diseno Textil (Inditex) SA
• Click the link for "Annual Reports"
• Select the latest Interim Report

Example: I want a swot analysis for McKinsey.

• Click the button/link for "A Publication"
• Type mckinsey swot analysis into the "Search for something specific box"
• Type globaldata into the Find Publication box and select Globaldata-Company Profiles
• Click Search
• Please Note that SWOT analyses for many companies won't be available in Nexis Uni

Example: I want a Hoover’s company report for Procter and Gamble.

• Click the button/link for "A Publication"
• Type Procter and Gamble into the "Search for something specific box"
• Type "Hoover's Company Records - In-depth Records" into the "Find Publication" box
• Click Search

Example: I need articles about Alphabet and lawsuits.

• Click the box for News
• Type alphabets lawsuits into the "Search in All News for" box
• Use the pull-down menu to change the date range to the last few years (e.g. September 23, 2020 to the present day)

Types of information available from Refinitiv:

• In-depth research reports from companies like Morningstar, UBS, Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, Trefis, RBC, Barclay's, etc. Avoid the reports from BuySellsSignal Research and Minkabu.
• Environmental Social Governance (ESG) indicators
• SWOT Analyses
• Supply Chain (referred to as a "Value Chain"
• Peer Analysis (available for diversity & inclusion, profitability, fundamental ratios, peer comparison (data like P/E ratios, beta)

Example: I need balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement data for Airbnb.

• Type either airbnb or the the ticker symbol (ABNB) into the search box and select Airbnb, Inc. (NasdaqGS:ABNB)
• On the left-hand side, scroll to the Financials/Valuation section and select either income statement, balance sheet or cash flow statement
• Data can be downloaded into Excel
