Industry Reports

Several IBISWorld reports provide data on the impact of Covid-19 on specific industries.

Example: I need a report on the movie production industry.

  • Type movie into the search box and select "Movie & Video Production in the US"
  • This industry report will provide information such as:
    • Impact of Covid-19
    • Forecasted sales
    • Industry trends
    • Employment statistics
    • Market Share (to identify the leading companies)

Example: I need statistical report on the airlines industry.

  • Type airlines into the search box and click search
  • Select the report "Passenger airlines in the U.S." (Dossier)

Example: I need data on the impact of Covid-19 on the airlines industry.

  • Type airlines covid into the search box

Example: I need a report with statistics on the nonprofit sector.

  • Type nonprofit into the box and select the report "Nonprofit organizations in the U.S." (Dossier).

Search for a company that is relevant to your industry and follow the "Industry Surveys" link to the industry report relevant to that. company,

Example: I need information about the sports apparel industry.

  • Type under armour into the search box and select Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE:UAA)
  • On the left-hand side, click the link "Industry Surveys"
  • Click the PDF icon for "Textiles, Apparel & Luxury Goods"

Example: I want reports on Covid-19 and social media.

  • Type covid social media into the box and click search
  • On the left-hand side, click the box for Reports

Articles on industries

Example: I need articles on the apparel industry and Covid-19

  • Click the box for Select all and click continue to search all of the article databases simultaneously
  • Type apparel into the first box 
  • Type covid-19 or coronavirus into the second box and click search (the word "or" is a search command
  • Click search

Example: I want scholarly articles about accounting professionals working remotely.

  • Click the box for Select all and click continue to search all of the article databases simultaneously
  • Type accounting into the first box
  • Type telecommuting or virtual office or virtual teams into the second box (the word "Or" is a search command)
  • Click search
  • Click the box for Scholarly (Peer Reviewed Journals) on the left-hand side (some of the articles won't actually be scholarly scholarly articles.. You will need to select articles that are lengthier and many cited references)
  • Set the date range on the left-hand side for 2016-2021

Example: I want articles about careers in accounting.

  • Click the box for Select all and click continue to search all of the article databases simultaneously
  • Type accounting into the first box and use the pull-down menu to select SU Subject Terms
  • Type  vocational into the second box and use the pull-down menu to select SU Subject Terms
  • Type career or occupation or (the word "or" is a search command)
  • Set the date range on the left-hand side for 2016-2021

Example: I want articles about a career in nonprofit organizations.

  • Click the box for Select all and click continue to search all of the article databases simultaneously
  • Type nonprofit into the first box and use the pull-down menu to select SU Subject Terms
  • Type career or vocational into the second box and use the pull-down menu to select SU Subject Terms
  • Set the date range on the left-hand side for 2016-2021

Example: I want articles about the advertising industry and Covid-19.

  • Register an account using the above link with your Pepperdine email address
  • Type advertising covid into the search box and click search
  • Click the link for advanced search
  • Select 1 year for the date range
  • For "Sort by," change Date to Relevance
  • Click Search
  • The search results will be at the bottom and you have to scroll down

Example: I want articles about the impact of Covid-19 on the luxury goods industry.

  • Type luxury covid into the box and click search
