This guide provides definitions, tips, and tools for answering the following questions and more:

  • Is this a legitimate journal?

  • What’s the impact factor of this journal?

  • What is ORCID & do I need one?

  • Who’s citing my work, or how many times has my work been cited?

  • What are all these metrics measuring? Altmetrics, h-index, …

  • How can I best promote my work?

  • How can I use RefWorks to manage my citations?
