POSC 446 International Organizations and Law (Williams): Finding Books

Searching the Catalog & Full Text Searching

Pepperdine's library catalog searches not only for books that we own, but also searches library catalogs worldwide. This is extremely helpful because not only can you find the most relevant books on your topic (regardless of whether we own the book), but you can easily request books from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).  If you have not done so already, sign up for an ILL account.

When you are searching Pepperdine's library catalog, you are not able to search for your keyword terms in the full text of a book.  This can be important where your topic is not the main focus of the book (i.e., your topic is not found in the title and/or table of contents of the book).

In order to do full text searching of a book for your topic or keywords, try Google Books.  When you locate a book in Google Books that looks relevant to your topic, copy and paste information about the book (title and/or authors) into the Pepperdine Library Catalog to see if we own it or are able to get it for you through Interlibrary Loan.
