Course Description

Journaling is a useful tool for healing, spiritual growth, ideas, and improvement in communication. In this seminar, you will learn the Essentials of Journaling, how healing and journaling work hand in hand, and how writing can help us manage complex emotions like grief. This freshman seminar will explore journals that changed the world, areas of entertainment influenced by journaling, and dive deep into the most journal-like book in the Bible, the book of Psalms. The course will be anchored in the Tear Talk Journey, a self-care framework that uses writing prompts to foster reflection, navigation, truth, and transformation.  This course will also help you adjust to navigating college life. This includes guest speakers from various aspects of the university(Health Center, Counseling, Spiritual, Fitness).

This class’s mission through personal entries, readings, discussion, and forms of entertainment, is to help you uncover the power of your pen and see journaling as a useful tool for life.
