Edited by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress, the multidisciplinary Handbook alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities. Continuously published since 1935, the Handbook offers Latin Americanists an essential guide to available resources.

At Seaver College the "Latin American Studies Specialization" is one of the seven specializations within the international studies major. It offers students opportunities to gain an appreciation for the dynamic and diverse region with which the United States shares a hemisphere. Students will develop an understanding or common patterns in the social, cultural, political, and economic development of these nations, as well as distinct characteristics of the nations of this large and increasingly important region.
