Q & A

What is SelectedWorks?

SelectedWorks is a librarian-curated repository of faculty profiles. Libraries work with faculty to create compelling online scholarly identities, share scholarship, and measure impact.

Does Pepperdine subscribe to SelectedWorks?

Yes. Our librarians are already working with Pepperdine faculty to craft their SelectedWorks profiles. Please feel free to browse the Pepperdine SelectedWorks gallery for examples. Would you like to add our profile to the gallery? Pepperdine Librarians can help you make it happen.

How do I create a SelectedWorks profile?

Begin by contacting the liaison librarian for your subject area. You'll find the list of librarians by subject area here. Let them know you're interested in creating a SelectedWorks profile and they'll work with you to do so.

How does SelectedWorks compare to similar systems such as ResearchGate and Academia.edu?

ResearchGate and Academia.edu are social networking sites run by private companies. Their primary goal is to connect researchers with like interests. Essentially they are providing a LinkedIn-like service. In other words, these sites are not connected with the prestige of your university, do not employ open access policies, and they do not ensure the long-term preservation of your works.
